Dartmoor Wilderness Series

This series of work was inspired by my love for walking and wild camping along the rugged wilderness of Dartmoor.

Whilst camping and hiking I explored this beautiful, yet hostile environment, where you are truly at the mercy of nature in all its glory. Focusing on the ever-changing weather and seasons of the moor, my work views it in a multi-angle approach both admiring the scale, history and splendour of this ancient landscape, but also celebrating its intricate details and beauty up-close.

The works colours, textures and forms embody the feeling and mood of being in the landscape, reflecting the season and weather of the scene. A playful, explorative approach was taken in the making process with a level of uncertainty and chance mirroring the unpredictable nature of walking on the moors. Scrap cardboard, wax, recycled materials and collage paper were used as printing plates to create organic shapes echoing the structurers and forms found in this stunning National Park.
