Tipping Point Series

In my series Tipping Point I wanted to shine a light on chanllenges our ocean faces the changing world we are living in. From the threat of warming waters on our coral reefs and eco-systems. Bleached coral like forms and warming tones reflected in shadows show the loss of life to our reefs, however, all is not lost and nature has a way of springing back into life, with help. Humans are actively making this happen with many projects to regenerate the reefs that have been lost, which is shown in the resilient undertones of colour and life in these pieces.  Human impact can be found everywhere along the coast, including in the tiny microplastics, often found in rockpools and coastlines, which are becoming a growing environmental concern due to their impact on marine ecosystems. By embedding foraged microplastics from the shoreline into my sculptural creations, I am not only supporting the cleaning the coastline but also bringing attention to these tiny pollutants, creating a tangible representation of a critical environmental issue often hidden from view.
