- Tipping Point | Emma Lamb Fine Art 2
This latest series of work explores the fragility of our forests and temperate rain forests in the UK. The collagraph Prints are built on different levels with raw pigments, handmade paper, experimental cyanotype, and collage papers. I am currently on a journey to find non-toxic materials, Looking at the environmental impact we are having on our forests has made my intention to move towards a more sustainable way of working more important than ever before. Tipping Point Series In my series Tipping Point I wanted to shine a light on how microplastics, often found in rockpools and coastlines, are a growing environmental concern due to their impact on marine ecosystems. By embedding foraged microplastics from the shoreline into my sculptural creations on handmade casted paper, I am bringing attention to these tiny pollutants, creating a tangible representation of a critical environmental issue often hidden from view. In my recent work paper castings of sea creatures and plant life portray a ghostly almost fossil like imprint of what was, what is and what could be if we fail to address the current problems facing our ocean. This latest series of work explores the fragility of our forests and temperate rain forests in the UK. I am currently on a journey to find non-toxic materials, Looking at the environmental impact we are having on our forests has made my intention to move towards a more sustainable way of working more important than ever before. Reviving Mires Series In my series Reviving Mires I am inviting people to engage with nature in a profound way, blending art and environmentalism to foster a deeper understanding of our ecological responsibilities. By transforming invasive plant species and carbon emissions into paper and ink, it challenges us to consider what other resources might be reimagined for environmental benefit. The materials also tell a story of the peatlands’ current state of health and the impact that invasive species, air pollution and wild fires have on these precious carbon sinks. I have been using raw pigments and granite dust, which are embedded into experimental cyanotype backgrounds, adding a sense of place and echoing the textures of the land in the work. Delicate paper castings portray fossil like imprints of endangered moorland plants, offering a poignant reminder of what our peatlands once harboured and what they might become if we fail to address the current crisis on the moors. South Devon based printmaker and mixed media artist exploring our human-nature connection 1/16 . Thought-provoking organic 3D works on handmade paper, that are an emotional response to our deep-rooted connection to nature, reflecting on its wonder and fragility. Layered with meaning and history, intertwining foraged plants, raw pigments, fibres and microplastic, theses 3D works aren't just inspired by nature, but nature has become an integral part of the work itself-a “trace of place” embedded in every piece. Past and present interplay, allowing us room to contemplate the future state of our planet and the ever-increasing threat from climate change. Commission or Purchase? Recycled materials were used as printing plates to create organic shapes echoing the structurers and forms found along this beautiful coastline. Coastal Wilderness Series This series of work came to light whilst walking and cold water swimming along Devon and Cornwall's beaches. I explored the rugged coastline where you are truly at the mercy of the tides. Focusing on the ever-changing mood and atmosphere of the coast, my work views the locations in a multi-angle approach both admiring its scale and splendour, but also celebrating its intricate details and beauty up-close. The works colours, textures and forms embody the feeling and mood of being by the sea, reflecting the season and weather of the scene. A playful, explorative approach was taken in the making process with a level of uncertainty and chance mirroring the unpredictable nature of the coast. Scrap cardboard, wax, recycled materials and collage paper were used as printing plates to create organic shapes echoing the structurers and forms found along our beautiful coastline.
